Here is a summary of some of the race reports that contained pictures and a table of all of the race results that were sent to me via email or blog comment. Also, if you're anything like Jamoosh, feel free to buzz down to the bottom to see if you were one of the winners of some sweeeet prize loot.
Apologies if I didn't specifically call out your race report!! While I wish that I had a elementary school style pink ribbon for you, maybe I could give you a baseball style swat on the butt the next time I'm in town? Wait, did that sound creepy?
Allie not only was committed enough to NOT drink (very much) the night before the race, but also rocked a sub 30! Dedication
Johann lives in South Africa. Turns out, it is winter there! But, Johann was nice enough to make us all jealous by creating his own flava-flav style medal OUT OF ICE!
Sweetie JUST started a gallo-walk program and decided that there would be NO better way to start it than with a virtual race from some werido on the internet. (Those might be my words and not hers)
Brian ran his race as part of the 2011 Dreaded Druid Hills 10K. I'm not sure what kind of masocists the race director was trying to get to run their race
(runners probably) but either way Brian killed it and cranked out his 5K in around 28:00.
Jen (like a lot of people) didn't realize that I posted a bib - probably because I posted it late. Blogger fail.
I think that Connie might win for the best post-run breakfast. Mmmm, hopefully it was a McRib. Do they still sell those at 7 in the morning?
In the Freeze Your Thorns Off 5K, Andrew videotaped himself falling in 6" of snow. Just like seeing someone getting kicked in the crotch, it was hilarious. Not to be out done in the summer, Andrew gives you THIS picture. Other than horrified, I'm horribly curious. Boxers? Briefs? Commando? Probably commando.
Hannah not only PRd during the race, but also made herself a sweet bib. While she didn't wear it during the race, she DID take a picture of her getting her sweat on. The look on her face is priceless.
sAm ran the race with her son. While she didn't get the time that she wanted (stupid heat) she DID get a sweet picture of herself with the bib that she made. I think that it makes her look a bit like Tim the Toolman Taylor's neighbor Wilson. (90s sitcom reference, for the win!)
Nancy went the extra mile for her race. She decided that the 60 degrees outside was too cool, so she hopped on the treadmill to get her sweat on. Her reward? Socks. As you can tell - very excited.
The Crafty English Teacher ran her second only 5K, which unfortunately was slower than the first. HOWEVER, instead of calling it her personal worst (like she did) I like to think that my race just finished #2. I'm #2!!!! I'm #2!!! (wait, that doesn't sound right..)
Sara at Life's a Wheeze said that she had to be really convinced to run a 5K in the heat. But, as you can see by the pictures, she had to much fun she had to wipe the fun off of her face:
Anna ran a Tomato 5K that also doubled as her sweat your thorns off 5K. They were giving away trophys at the Tomato 5K. I should have ran the Tomato 5K.
Whitney had something happen that we all have had happen - she had to go to the bathroom during the run. The reason this is funny? Because she pointed out that she had to spend a few minutes peeling the TP off of her legs. HA! Why have I not mentioned this before? I'm slipping. Oh, and she got a huge blister on her foot!
The Turtle thought that she came in last place. While I doubt that she did, that didn't stop her from working up a killer sweat - with a reflector strapped to her shirt? Maybe a strobe light?
Anne at Got Miles "accidentally" ran a half marathon and counted part of it for the virtual race. Is that sort of how a bottle of wine "accidentally" falls into my mouth?
Brian wanted to capture how dark it was when he was running. So, he decided to take a picture while driving. I'll bet that was illegal - and that, is awesome.
If a picture is worth 1,000 words, this picture of Jamie says a mouthful. (That's what she said). Speechless, Jamie. Speechless.
Diane ran a warrior dash as well as the SYTO5K. BUT - the weather wasn't cold so she didn't sweat. Luckily, she included a picture that had something naked. Shouldn't all pictures include naked?
Jeff knows how to give the people what they want - pictures of his awesome son. I think he is doing the teapot here? Hopefully Jeff didn't try to show anyone his "spout".
Jamoosh posted a picture pre race of himself wearing his gorgeous looking race bib. Although, I think he was looking to possibly punch that bear in the face and steal its fish.
Oh, and in true Jamoosh style, he had a post race beer. Well played, sir. Well played.
Michelle put together her own custom bib
MCM Mamma had a great race! But, it wasn't quite as hot as she would have liked (which, I find hilarious)
Caroline not only took a picture of herself in her bib, but also went back and edited her post to make sure that it was posted! That is what my races are good for - creating additional work.
Kandi agreed that if she had thorns, they were certainly sweated off. Well done!
EricaH knew that there would be sweating involved, so she was very diligent in making sure that she was FULLY hydrated. Hopefully she drank the entire camelback before going out. You can never be too careful.
Rose ran a killer 5K but found that when she finished she kept sweating and sweating and sweating. I'm not certain, but I think that she might have sprung a leak. Can you put depends on your arms?
Tim is coming off of an injury, but was able to crank out his 5K in a great time. Either that, or he is pregnant. I'm not too sure.
This winter, Chris K bragged about how his run wasn't freezing and instead was a balmy 60 degrees. This summer, Chris K bragged about how his run wasn't hot and instead was a balmy 60 degrees. Oh, and he bragged about how sweet the scenery was.
Lesley not only sweated off her thorns, but some of them ended up sticking to her sock
Kayla was rocking the bib
Gracie waited (or maybe forgot) until the afternoon so it was 90 degrees when she ran. Dedication to the sweaty run - I love it!
Kate mysteriously met up with Chris K - who was wearing one of his "normal" 10 gallon hats. Hey, I read it on the internet so it has to be true (seriously, go read her race report here. Hilarious)
Tricia not only ran in the heat of Texas, she also ran pushing a jogging stroller - while her sun was screaming "faster mommy, faster!". If only we all had that kind of cheering!
Funderson reminded me why I love the state of Colorado. My current marathon PR state!
Greg had Lady Gaga in his head while running. Or, maybe he just heard someone else singing it. Either way, Lady Gaga is weird and Greg ran fast enough that technology couldn't capture his speed:
Juanita said that she had swore off running, but yet she ran my race! I'd like to think I'm an enabler like that. Hey there kids, what some candy? It is free!!
Barb demanded a race medal. Since I'm essentially a pushover, I guess I'm totally going to have to send her one.
Bobbi not only sweated, but set an unofficial PR!!
I'm not sure if this is
Gene always looking to go where no one has gone before decided to visit. . . . . Wait - that one is far far too easy.
Jeff ran his 5K as part of a 10 mile race where he killed it with a sub 8 pace and negative splits
Stephanie ran her SYTO 5K as part of a triathlon - on a LONG course!
Finally, the best race report goes to Chris @ Evolving Through Running. While stretching and explaining to his kids
what a weirdo/creeper Adam is what a virtual race is, his son asked if he could run with him. He, of course said yes and even made the little man his own bib. THAT is what virtual racing is about - getting people out racing that normally wouldn't race. (Chris emailed me after the fact and said that his son is now hooked on racing and wants to find another one as soon as possible. AWESOME!)
Here are the winners of the sweeeeet prizes just for participating. We had 167 registered participants - a new record! I used the random number generator dealie to capture the winning comment. Shoot me an email with which prize you would like!! (First come, first served)
