Running Around With Adam

A few things that are running around my head today.....

If you haven’t entered my (free) virtual race, go here to enter! There will be prizes and I’m super flexible on the race itself: 3.1 miles as part of another run? You betcha. Jogging naked in the shower for 30 min? Counts in my book. Running a race the day after and want to count that? Oookayyyyy, but you’re pressing your luck.

Jamoosh, who changed his blog URL yet again, did make a good point that participants should: ”At least have to be timed separately if part of another run. You must wander around for 15 minutes before starting the 5K. Ideally, you will drive around for thirty minutes prior to simulate looking for a parking spot.” While I don’t require those, it would make for a good race report!

My running has been going really well. Maybe a little TOO well. Sort of like in horror movies where the cute blond is singing a Britney Spears song in her car at night….with the bad guy hiding in her trunk. I’m sure I’m due for a little post-BritBrit-rock-out stabbing after an interval session or something. Last week I had my highest mileage week in nearly 8 months – 55 miles. I decided to do something that I have only done once before and run 22 miles in training before running the actual marathon. It was a slower run than goal (goal was 7:50 pace, actual was 8:00 pace) but I hit ‘the wall’ and had to battle through around mile 20 which was good. There is really something to be said about knowing you can do something. All of those 90s Public Service Announcements were right – Knowledge IS power.

Finally, this weekend I’m headed to sunny California to run the Rock and Roll San Diego Half Marathon. I’m not going for a PR, so I can get as crazy as I want and do kegstands with college kids eat as many free samples in the expo as possible! I’ll be running with my sister who is running her first half marathon ever. She is as nervous as is expected, but being the “good” big brother that I am, I promised her that I would make sure to take loads of embarrassing pictures of her while she is running and then post them on my blog. I’m going to get together with the one and only Chris K the night before the race, but if anyone would like to get together the morning of the race let me know! For that matter, we’re going to be in Coral 30, so come look for us! I’ll be the guy who looks something like this:

Why yes, that is me double fisting on some white wine and a Mike's hard lemonade.  Why?

Go eat some free samples for me! I did Camp Pendleton Mud Run (10K) last year on that Saturday and "ran" SD RNR the next morning. Needless to say, that's why I say "ran"...

San Diego is lame. Real athletes come to Los Angeles to run.

Have a great weekend and race! I conned my sister into running a half marathon with me once and she moved away 1200km from me after that… I'm checking out your race although it is winter here.

I guess we'll see just how "well" your running is going later this month. Is that stank I smell a SYTO5K PR?

I've got the Bartles and James chilling on ice as I type these words. Sunset at the beach is going to be so romantic. I hope you like Passion Fruit.
