Intervals With Adam

If you say it fast enough, it sounds like it rhymes! Here are some of the things that have been rattling around in my head lately….

I’m running a marathon this weekend. Yeah, who knew!? On Sunday I’ll be running the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. I’m only going to be in town for a day, but if you are running let me know if you want to get together before at the start. I promise I won’t talk much about poop.  Much.

Honestly I haven’t been talking it up a lot on my blog, on twitter, to my friends, in my sleep, etc because I’m feeling a bit undertrained. But, just like speed, wiener size, height, and intelligence, feeling “trained” enough to run a marathon is relative. I’ll get to my goals in a preview post this weekend, but I know that I can pretty easily run a 3:25 marathon, but my spring 2011 goal of 3:15 is not happening. Cest La Vie. To be clear, marathons are nothing to take lightly (lest you poop your pants), but I’m going to try to be as relaxed as I can.

Tried linking to a "better" picture but it was blocked at work.....

I tweeted about this earlier, but I feel like I need to admit it here too. I think I am one of the few Americans that actually doesn’t mind hearing about the Royal Wedding. For one, Kate is hot If I were a girl I’m sure that I would be interested in the whole princess fairytale thing and being a guy I’m interested in how a slightly goofy looking prince can land a pretty hot wife. It is sure better than all of the other crap that has been in the news lately. I swear to god, if I have to hear about Libya one more time I’m going to shoot myself in the face. If anything, why can’t we hear how our boys/girls in Iraq/Afgan are doing?

Finally, speaking of the news, myself and a few other blogger buddies were interviewed for an article in the Phoenix paper about a local 5K we all ran last year – the Tempe Arbor Day 5K. I didn’t have a very good race, but overall I really did have a good time. For that matter, afterwards RunningLaur and I got one or 8 mini beers…….and I might have humped a tree. The tree loved it.

Hey, I'll be running my marathon at the same time you are...a bit further north...and it may take a bit longer than yours. More race for my money, right?

What's sad is that William used to be hot, but he's on the goofy side now. Harry definitely has him beat. Look out, bridesmaids!

Off to check your article link now! Good luck!

I like how you threw in that little taste of french :) And that prince has gotten goofier-looking with age and, like his dad, was still able to attract quite a hottie… do you think it has ANYthing to do with that whole 'future-king-of-England' thing? Or is that a detraction? I hear he drinks beer AND humps trees, too… but he can't run a marathon easily in 3:25 ;-)

Lucky me, I only read blogs, so I know more about Chris K's record collection, Kovas' shoes and your bowel movements than I do about Libya OR the royal wedding :)

I'm spotting you TWO time zones AND an hour and a half - so if I somehow manage to finish before you on Sunday I'll know something was up.

1. Is this kind of like "intervals with Dash" well...I guess you DID come up with it...

2. holy cow, why didn't I know about the marathon, aren't I your BFF?

3. link love on my blog tomorrow.fyi (my "oh adams a great coach" announcement will go along great with this "I'm super undertrained and wont reach my goals" post of yours.ha!)

I knew, I must be your BFF. Not Tricia. Okay, I didn't.

3:20. Seriously. "YES WE CAN"

If you didn't talk about pooping so much I would have to take away your man card for your royal wedding comment.

The tree was asking for it, dressing like that.

The weather will be cooperating for you. Weddings, poop, racing, beer and tree humping... good times by the sounds of it.

Madam I'm Adam.

I'm pretty sure the goofy looking prince landed a hot wife because of that title he carries around. That and he gave her a giant ring. Bigger is better, right?

Score one for the goofy guys, even if it takes waving a crown.

Good luck this weekend. No full for me, but I do have a duathlon and a half-marathon this weekend. Wish me luck.

I will be there in OKC, but not to run (injured) :(

I will be on the sidelines routing you all on. I may even have a shot or 2 to hand out.

Have a great run!

By the looks of the litter under that tree you either picked it up at a McDonalds or you weren't its first visitor of the day... Hope you were careful. You might have saplings running around out there??

Good luck this weekend. Might as well take a bunch of pictures this time around!!

I like that you like the Royal Wedding. As much as my husband keeps commenting on it, he's making his "this stuff is stupid" attitude seem like a lie :D

Best of luck to you this weekend, hope that you feel great!
Congrats also on the interview, you should have known all of the poop talk would help you get into the big time : )

GOOD LUCK this weekend!!! Your speed is totally there. Are you just undertrained in endurance? Shame. I really want to see you kill that 3:15 time. I know you've got (more than) that in you.

/deny

Go run the 3:15 already. Enough of this can't stuff. Either that or go out way too fast, blow up, and melt down with tree humping over the last six miles of the course. Both would be more enjoyable than a standard fare 3:25....
:)

The tree does look immensely turned on.

Good luck in Oklahoma!

Well we're running about the same time...you are just running 13.1 more miles than I am.

Who isn't excited about the Royal Wedding? I mean, a young beautiful couple who have been fornicating for years are finally going to take the British taxpayers to town for a big wedding blowout in anticipation of making the Big Commitment?! Good news is that my tax money isn't paying for that.

I'm with Chad, the tree totally asked for it.

Good luck on your marathon....I'm guessing you will do better than what you are revealing to your loyal readers.

You'll be in my neck of the woods, but I'm still 2 hours North of OKC. I ran OKC in 2009. Hope you reconsider shooting yourself in the face... I'm sure you'll hear more about Libia.

Hhahaha I'm glad you posted the important things from the Arbor Day race.
