Try it Tues: Podcasting!!

Blogger seems to be having some commenting issues. I get emails on the comments, but they don't show on the site. I'm researching......

Dear Blog:
I have a confession to make that itching is the herps, sorry I have a podcast. No, no - wipe your eyes. It wasn't you, it was me. You know that I have listened to podcasts and talk radio almost exclusively while running for years, so it was only a matter of time before I decided to throw my hat in the ring. The final straw was the USB microphone/headset that work gave me for video conferencing. Couldn't you smell the sweet smell of microphone on my chin?

All those things considered, can't we just make it work? I believe the pronunciation is Ménage à trois. Think about it.

Love,
Adam

I have waited and waited to get to the point where I was comfortable sharing with my blog faithful that I have been secretly producing a weekly, bi weekly, monthly podcast that is currently on its third episode. Honestly, I'm not TOTALLY ready to announce it, but enough people know about it now so I might as well spill the beans.

The podcast is running focused (even more than this blog), very similar to the Run Run Live or Phedippidations podcasts. Similar in the sense that it has 4-5 "segments" that bounce from topic to topic. E.g. Episode #3 spoke to running in the summer heat...celebrity rehab...my running....and muscle milk.

It is still VERY rough, but what do I have to lose? Respect!? Ha! I left that at the door long long ago. You can find it on iTunes at the link I've been linking to throughout this post or on Podbean if you don't like iTunes.

So, in true Try it Tues format, here are the pros and cons:

Pros:
  • I love podcasts ALMOST as much as I love blogs - so putting one of these together seemed almost like a no brainer
  • I can listen to myself WHILE running (and then have a convo with myself while hearing my self in my ears). Sigmund Freud, eat your heart out.

Cons:
  • These things take TIME. Between writing, recording, editing, they take 4-5 hours at least.
  • There is a pretty steep learning curve to publishing a podcast. (Episode #3 has an editing error...when I'm talking about poo)
  • My humor still doesn't 100% come across via the podcast format
  • Everyone has to listen to my nasaly voice
As far as the Fail Whale eating the Seal of Approval vs the Seal of Approval itself, I think the verdict is still out. For that matter, I think that it is probably up to YOU to decide. Let me know what you think. Let me know how I can change it to make it better (including if that means NOT doing it).

---------------------------------------
Ran 10 miles on Sunday (8:04 pace) and 4 miles on Monday (8:10 pace). The run on Sunday went well but the run on Monday was ROUGH. However, I was very encouraged by my 10 mile run 1 week post marathon.

In the process of downloading it now. I guess I can write off today, since I'll listen to this, make a bank deposit, lunch and then watch the Dutch game - then go home!

My boss will be pissed if he finds out. I'm not the Andrew Opala from Mississauga [whew! that will throw him off]

I must be the last person on the planet to listen to a podcast. I guess I'm just iliterate in how you download them and which ones are good to dowload, but I'll try my hardest to download yours (or bribe the 19-year old to do so for me, she's in need of cash right now - hahah). I'm soooo desperate for something new to listen to in the SF marathon in a few weeks so this will be perfect. I'll feel like you're another blogger out there dumb enough to run the full marathon while in crappy marathon shape (everyone I know is doing the half)....will you make a special note in there, around mile 20, to NOT WALK, STOP COMPLAINING I HURT, and BE GRATEFUL!!!! Make sure to directly address it to Jill, please :). (is this something I can do myself?? Cuz seriously, I need am in no condition to run 26 miles....). Thanks, Adam - I'm very excited to try this out. Don't be shocked if you get an email titled "What does Operator Error mean"...

I listened to it Saturday and enjoyed it a lot.Yours is however is the first podcast I have listened to so I may be a little biased (so I'll have to find other podcasts in order to give a fully informed opinion, any recommendations??) But I found yours to be very informative and entertaining looking forward to the next one. :)

I can't wait to listen. I must have ESP, or is it ESPN, because I was just thinking the other day how funny it would be for you to do a podcast! I'll download it as soon as I get home.

Podcast - that's cool. I'll check it out. My husband is more into the audio so I'll pass it onto him too.

I'm also trying to take blogging to the next level this summer - but not with a podcast. I've got ideas; now, I just have to get them to work.

I will subscribe via itunes & give it a test drive tonight. I listen to running podcasts regularly - great for long runs. I do have a weird pet peave though....when I want to listen to music, I listen to music. When I want to listen to a running podcast I don't want to hear an entire song that I didn't even choose to put on my ipod.

I have a bottle of muscle milk in my fridge that I got free after a race... Everytime I open my fridge and see it I will now think of you pronouncing it. Thanks for that.

I'll definitely check it out. I've listened to Phedipp for about 3 years... not so much while running, but definitely when I was rehabbing in the pool. And I love having something to listen to on my long rides!!

Cool, congrats! This will go straight to the top of my 873 running podcasts I currently listen to.
And I'm with Chris - I'm not a huge fan of songs within a running podcast...unless it's a parody song by the Resurrected Runner (resurrectedrunner.com - order today!)

Can't wait to listen and make fun of you relentlessly for it.

How cool! i am listening to you right now! Put them on my iPod. The only question: will you be able to compete with Justin Bieber? Only time will tell : )

Looking forward to listening to your podcast... thanks for coming out of the closet about your secret adventures... and the herps. Good luck with both!

Dude, thanks. I was wondering what podcast to listen to during my 18 mile run tomorrow. SCORE ! ! !

Honestly: sounds like way too much work for me. Not being lazy...but I know it takes me probably two hours to write a good blog post--I can't imagine how much time it would take me to do a podcast.

I would give it a listen on my run this morning, but I can't find the cord for my iPod. Crap, it may have stayed in Texas.

Why is Facebook taking over your blog?

Anyway, I'll have to listen to your podcasts!
