Blogger meetup / Ouch

Lazy Sunday. Turns out, it does rain in Phoenix. Turns out, the weather girls in Phoenix can hype up a "significant" thunder storm that basically just means it is going to be cloudy. But, compared to some crazy snow storm, I'll take it. Gives me a reason to sit around on my ass catch up on some things inside.

On Saturday, I went for a 13 miler with Jeff and RunningLaur. It was my first significant run since my RnR Mardi Gras race. Unfortunately, I'm also going to have to call this my race report for the "Global Warming, My Ass!" virtual race - but more on the "unfortunately" later.

The three of us ran along the Phoenix canal system in an older more developed part of town. It was a great change to the usual suburbia runs that I take. 0 - 6.66 miles: 1:13:50.

Here are Jeff and I celebrating our run (picture courtesy of RunningLaur). Well, either we are celebrating or Jeff is trying to push me off of the bridge. If you look close, you can see Jeff bracing for leverage and a look of fear on my face. At least that is my story and I am sticking to it. RunningLaur took a picture of the two of us, but I look like more of a goon than normal.

Now to the unfortunately... While I had a bit of discomfort in my foot during the run, it really started to flair up when I finished. On the drive home I knew that I was done for a while - probably longer than I would like. I got home, iced, compressed, and elevated. After I showered, I noticed I had a small bruise where it hurt:

And then, today, it got a little worse:

Now, I may have been born at night, but it wasn't LAST night. So I don't need someone to tell me that bruises are NEVER a good thing. So, I'm going to take a week off, maybe more. However long it takes to get 100%. In the meantime, I'll be biking, working on my core, and trying to stay away from the Oreos. Looks like I am going to take a little bit longer of a marathon recovery than I would like.

Of course, as I finish typing this, it is starting to sprinkle. Turns out the weather girl was right - and it is a good thing. I've heard that if they don't hit their weather forecasts 100% of the time they are fired. At least that is the way it is for every other job, so it has to be that way for weather girls, right?

I can watch the entire weather report with weather girl and not retain one bit of weather info. I don't think their job requirements have anything to do with weather forecasting. Now, if they forget their hairspray, that's another matter.

Sorry to hear of your foot, that is terrible. I know it drives me crazy when I am forced to take a longer break for recovery. But, it is for the best. Sounds like you are doing the right thing.

Yeeouch. :( Dude, that sucks. Take care of that thing! Don't make me call my momma and have her give you the, "If you don't, it will rot and fall off" speech.

That sucks! Sorry to hear about your foot. :(
Sounds like you have a good plan, though, of what to do as it heals up.

I think Jeff did that to your foot when he was hugging you. Blogger meet ups are clearly dangerous.

Sorry to hear about your foot getting worse Adam. I'll go with 'crazy man tries to push blogger friend off of bridge' also, if that gets us away from the awkwardness of our newly discovered feelings. Get better soon!

Lol in agreement with RunningThroughPhoenix / Jeff. That little foot flourish seems to indicate some other kind of motive to the hug... :)

WAIT! You're supposed to double up on the Oreos while you injured. It's that magic white filling in the middle that heals injuries. I think Girl Scout Cookies are also an effective substitution.

Hi Adam,
God, I love it when I can see other bloggers with cool blogger meet ups:) It sounds like the three of you had a nice time! I love the picture of you and Jeff....I love how he kicked his foot up for the photo opportunity:) Pretty funny! Now your foot on the other hand, not so funny. Ouch!! Keep icing it!! Hang in there Adam:)

Just guessing the more attractive they are the lesser % of time they have to be right.

For what it's worth I bruise pretty easily. My friend stepped on my foot (in heels) on NYE. Huge bruise. Nothing came of it... and I kept running. The bad thing is you have pain :-(
Hope that goes away soon!

Well that just sucks about the foot. I guess that means you have more time to watch the weather girls.

This race director does not take any responsibility for your injury. It's in the rules. Don't bother looking for it....IT'S IN THE FINE PRINT.

Hope your foot gets better!

You guys make a cute couple. Foot rubs might help. They can't hurt.

OH NOES!!!!!! Bum foot! :(

I hope it heals up quick, good job on keeping off of it and taking it easy. You're not in training so now is the ideal time to nurse it.

Fun blogger meet up! :)
