10 Random Things

Caution: Secrets Inside
(Jamoosh, picture taken at the New Belgium brewery)

A few days ago, I was tagged over at Julie's Running Blog to list 10 random things about myself. What a coincidence, that is my favorite topic! Kidding kidding.... kind of.
  1. I grew up on a farm in northwest Iowa. In fact, my dad still farms. The town I went to elementary school in has 600 people and the town I went to high school in has 1700 (and they just removed the one and only stop light!) The worst part? The closest McDonalds was 40 miles away... and NO ONE delivered food.
  2. My high school graduating class had 65 people.
  3. I blogged for over a year before I received my first comment that wasn't from a friend or a family member. Now, I feel so loved! (go back to some of those old posts. They.are.boring - really)
  4. While I travel full time for work, I'm pretty supersticous about catching a standby flight and not sitting in my assigned seat - for COMPLETELY morbid reasons. You always hear about people catching a standby flight and then going down in a ball of flames.
  5. My right foot is a full size bigger than my left foot. I am convinced that if I were a girl, my boobs would be different size too.
  6. I've been up to my shoulder in cow. Think about it. (Assisting with birth)
  7. While I just finished my 7th marathon, I have still to run a half marathon (and then stop).
  8. The last time I was in a sport was little league. I was in no high school sports. I was in band and played quads and trap set.
  9. I have this funny idea about running a marathon in all 50 states. Gotta dream big!
  10. My wife is my best friend's little sister. The first year or so that we dated was...interesting. But, we're both good guys - so it all worked out in the end.

If that didn't fill your Adam fix, head to my 100 things page (which is actually a bit out of date) and go nuts.

Looks like a half should get in the mix once your foot heals???? It is a great distance!

What at great list! I grew up on horse ranches. Birth was always crazy! I remember my dad getting me out of bed and walking to the barn in my footy PJ's in the middle of the night to hang out while mares were foaling :)

Love it ..And I thought 10,000 people was a small town..sheesh! I hope that dang foot of your heals fast. You MUST run a Half: Easier to train for. Faster to recover from. What's not to love?

Great list. Hope the foot gets better soon!

now if you had to stick your head in there to find the calf, that would be a story.

Do you follow Absolutely Fit? She's trying to be the youngest 50 stater and should finish this summer.

I too have been shoulder deep in cow, and it is a veeeeery long glove. :)

Julie commented on the baby face. As you travel, do the stewardesses ask where your mom is? :)

You really must try a half. It is super fun because you can run pretty fast, and don't have to worry about "the wall".

Hmmm, the cow thing was a little disturbing. 7 marathons and no halfs.... funny!

Oh, and BTW, I would do a "10 Random Things" post too, but I no one has ever tagged me. Hint, hint, hint.

You are not wearing gloves. No more New Belgium for me...

I knew why I liked you, were are both Iowa bread (though I was completely on the opposite side of the state) :). And I knew you had superstitions somewhere!! I think the marathon in 50 states is a cool idea....when you make it to Colorado, I'll come run a few miles of it with you !!

I'm actually not sure how I found this blog...but I'm glad I did!

Interesting about the standby flights. I always took them when consulting and didn't think twice. I also will gladly volunteer my seat for a free flight these days ;)

I just noticed the sign on the door, "Packaging Co-workers Only"- staff are packaging their co-workers?

Anyways- glad to know I'm not the only superstitious one out there. :)

Hi! I am visiting from Lauren's blog :)

I thought I would comment because I am also from Iowa (Waterloo) and P.S. - most women do have two slightly different sized breasts! :P

Hilarious Adam! There should be special consideration in life for kids who grew up without McDonalds.I meand face it - your room was not filled with cheapass Chinese toys....

I can't believe you blogged for a year without comments! I'm too obsessed with my "fans" to keep going without them :)

Julie got you too? Me too!
But to be honest, your list was kind of interesting...
7 fulls and no halves? Really? 'Cause my halves more than double my fulls and i've run 9 marathons.
Anyway, great post. Thanks to Jules for the idea and the motivation.
