In a Fight

Running and I are in a fight. You know the kind of fight. It is the type where running only gets one word answers and I only call running by various expletives.

Running: Hey Adam, what do you want to do today?
Adam: Whatever. Ass.

You see, today I didn't do very well during my 2nd 20 miler of this training cycle. I'm a bit frustrated that I can't seem to be able to put together the right set of circumstances for a successful run.

I am nearly positive that my junky runs are due to the heat. It was 93 when I finished today (on the way to 114). However, I don't think that is the only thing that I can blame it on full reason. I'd bet that a lot of it is mental. I need to get it through my head that a 20 run is doable at the pace that I want to do it in. I've got one more chance to do it before Minneapolis!

Dude, running and I are always fighting but we also always seem to make up. The make up runs are awesome too!! You should try it!

Don't be so hard on yourself please. You are doing so freaking awesome!! Plus, its hot bro!

Blaming the heat is my excuse. Sorry, it's taken. :)

You can do this. Just tell Running to shut the f@$k up so you can concentrate. And then run like hell!

Eh, shitty runs are shitty runs, they are part of the entire running experience. Sooooooo, it's a-okay! And, just remember, that it's the crappy runs that make us stronger! You'll be more than fine.

Running and I have broken up and made up many, many times. I know what you mean.
I definitely think the heat is curtailing your efforts for a successful 20 miler. The hottest I've run, is like, maybe 80 something degrees, and even THAT was enough to really beat me up. 93 just sounds..... too hot!
You CAN rock the socks off that 20 miler. You CAN rock the socks off, You CAN!

when it is hot... slow down... time on your feet is most important. stay with running, it is always there for you when you most need it. But is also requires your faith through these hard times, even when you don't understand it. wait... this sounds familiar???

You'll really notice the difference going from 100+ to 50's and 60's at Twin Cities.

At least I'm hoping.

One word - hilarious. Running definitely needs more comedy like yours!

I was never good at long runs. I find I get bored and slowly but surely slow down the pace.

What I've learned to do if you can, is get someone to meet you for the second half, or third, or quarter. Just make sure they can hold the pace you want then you don't even think about it.
