Burrrrrr

I got in my 10 miles today – but it was tough… Tougher than it should have been for some reason – but more on that tomorrow.  I’m a day behind on my running because I took Monday off and had to fly on Tuesday so I wonder if that had anything to do with it?

Anyway, I wanted to see if this happens to anyone.  Today, while I was out for ~85 min, I got cold.  Really cold.  I had on long pants but had totally forgotten a long sleeved shirt but decided just to tough it out in my turkey trot Tshirt.  For the second half of the run, my wrists and forearms were so cold they got really stiff and I could barely move them.  Does that happen to anyone else when they are out and get super cold?

For the most part I am all warmed up, but I think that my thumb got a BIT too cold….  It feels really strange.  Kinda numb, but kinda stiff?  I sure hope that doesn’t mean frostbite.  Lesson learned, I suppose.  If I end up with some sort of black thumb I'll be sure to post pictures.

Adam what was the temp when you were out running? I am still wearing long sleeves so mostly my arms are ok even a bit warm. Usually just my hands are the coldest part of me.

Hey you ran 10 miles dude! SWEET!

Opps! I didn't put the temp in there. It was 40 degrees (or 38 according to a bank I ran by) with just a very slight breeze.

Well you CAN get frost bitten on your peen if that's what you're asking. I believe it was Steve (In Speedo) that has had that happen. YIKES!

I know of one "exercise" for stronger forearms and wrists.

I'm just sayin'.

You can't get frostbite unless it is below freezing or the wind chill makes it below freezing..been suckin on your thumb too much? ;)

I can do short sleeves as long as it is 50 degrees or warmer.

40 is definitely pushing it.

Sometimes I like when I get just a little cold. It numbs my legs and my running feels a little smoother.

Oh heck yeah! In 38-40 degree weather, for sure... I'd probably not go out running in a t-shirt in that temp. So, you're okay!

Ahh, didn't even think about that Craft. You're right, no way to get it w/out it actually being below freezing!!

I had the same thing happen to me a couple weeks back. It wasn't freezing outside, but I lost the feeling and blood in my left pointer and pinky fingers. It was the weirdest thing. It was raining and windy and cold, which I have now realized IS the deadly combination my mother always warned me it was.
